Roguelikes

Roguelike means that a game is run-based, which in turn means nothing carries over from game to game, with the exception of the items that you unlock. The encounters are semi-randomized: theoretically, no single run is identical to another due to the combination of enemies, rewards, and items given to you. It is also normally possible to replicate other people’s runs or your specific run by copying the seed of the run and entering it at the start of the game.

There are numerous roguelike games, like Spelunky, The Binding of Isaac, Dead Cells, and Hades, all either action-oriented games and platformers, where your reflexes and memorization of enemy patterns having a significant impact on the game, or games that are not like that at all, like Balatro, where enemy patterns and platform won’t help at all.
